FAQ
When should I book my newborn shoot?
Aim to book your shoot at least 2-3 months in advance of your due date. This leaves adequate time to plan for your baby's arrival. As most babies do not arrive on their exact due date, it is helpful to set a window of expectation for when the shoot can be held in order to allot a flexible time frame for your session.
How long after birth should should the newborn session take place?
While newborn sessions can be done 3 weeks postpartum, they are best when held within the first two weeks of life for several reasons. During this time, your baby tends to sleep longer, is more pliable and less resistant to being posed or swaddled, and less likely to have skin conditions such as baby acne.
How should I prepare for my newborn session?
To prepare for the session, baby should be fed about 30 minutes prior to the session to encourage sleep, changed into a fresh diaper and wrapped lightly in just a blanket to make it easy for clothes to be swapped on and off when the time comes. If the session is taking place in-home, the room should be kept warm to a comfortable temperature for baby while clothes are not on.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
While it is preferred and may be easier for newborn sessions to take place in-home, we understand that this may not always be an option and have a studio option available for booking. Both options carry an additional fee based on travel time or hourly rate of the studio.
How accurate are time slots for each session type?
Time slots are only an estimation and may vary slightly than what is listed. We take into consideration that your little one may need additional attention throughout the session as well as the number of additional individuals and setups involved when making these estimations.
